The Eternal Lesson of the Meraglim for Every Generation

הפצת המיינות חוצה | June 27, 2025

The Torah is eternal and as is explained in several places, (Tanya, Likkutei Torah etc.) that since the Torah is eternal it is understood that every inyan within Torah has an eternal lesson which is relevant for us at all times and in all places. Therefore, since the Meraglim הָיוּ כְׁשֵׁרִׁים בְׁאוֹתָהּ שָעָה “At that time, they were virtuous” and not only virtuous but on a very high spiritual level, it is consequently understood that even from the Meraglim there is an eternal lesson applicable to each and every member of B’nei Yisroel in Avodah. Furthermore, this lesson is eternal for all time with extra emphasis when studying this Parsha of Shelach and especially when studying the Chassidishe Parsha of Parshas Shelach.

Regarding these two opinions it is not just about :חַיִׁים אֱלֹקִׁים דִׁבְׁרֵׁי וָאֵׁלוּ אֵׁלוּ “These and those are the words of the living G-d” but the essence of both these above-mentioned explanations (from Machshova and from Dibbur) are true in man’s actual Avodah. In other words, there is a need to descend to the world of ‘Maaseh’ both from man’s world of ‘Machshova’ and also from man’s world of ‘Dibbur’.
