Breaking the Klipah Through Our Actions

Havineini | June 27, 2025

For this reason, when a person does a mitzvah in This World, through this he breaks the klipah in a way that only our actions in This World can break, klipos that can be broken only in the darkness of This World. There are klipos that can be broken with our thoughts and words, and then there are klipos that can be broken only through action—by entering the הרבים, רשות the lowly public domain, and there proclaim that there is a G-d in the world, and this is done through practical mitzvos in This World. These actions help a person understand and internalize how silly and foolish This World is, and that there is no reason to pursue worldly success.

Now we can understand the above-mentioned Midrash that the dalet minim are an expression of victory over the nations of the world. It doesn’t refer to the goy who lives next door or to the non-Jew who lives across the world... it is referring to victory over the klipah that lives inside our hearts! On Sukkos, when we take the dalet minim and we point it to all corners of the world, we thereby proclaim that there is a G-d in every corner of the world, and this belief becomes ingrained in our hearts as well. There are no two worlds. Everything is Elokus. And there is no reason to pursue illusory successes in This World.
