קול רם - Inyanei Sukkos 7

"כל המקיים את המועדות כאילו קיים את השבתות"

In Parshas Emor 23:3, in the middle of the Parshah of the Moados, the Yom Tovim, the Torah mentions the Mitzvah of Shabbos. Rashi asks: Why is Shabbos stated near (in the middle) of the Parshah of the Moados? This is to teach you that all who are Mechalel the Moados, is as if they were Mechalel the Shabbosos, and all who heed the Moados, it is as if they heeded the Shabbosos. What does Rashi mean by this?

Shabbos is the foundation of Emunah in the Creation of the World. This is why the Gemara in Chulin 5a says that one who is Mechalel Shabbos is as if he is a Kofer, does not believe, in Ma'aseh Bereishis, in Hakodosh Boruch Hu creating the world. The Moados are the foundation of the Emunah that Hakodosh Boruch Hu, Alone, runs every aspect of the world, and orchestrates nature to His Will. When Hakodosh Boruch Hu wanted to redeem Klal Yisroel from Mitzrayim, He performed many miracles and wonders, and that is commemorated by the Yom Tov of Pesach. Hakodosh Boruch Hu surrounded us by the Ananei Hakovod and provided food for us when we traversed the forty years in the Midbar, and this is commemorated with the Yom Tov of Sukkos. Hakodosh Boruch Hu gave us the Torah and Mitzvos so that we can follow the straight and good path in this world; this is commemorated with the Yom Tov of Shavuos - the time of the giving of the Torah Hakdosha. The Torah is telling us here that having "half Emunah", that one only believes that Hakodosh Boruch Hu Created the world but does not believe that Hakodosh Boruch Hu is constantly running the world, or vice versa is no Emunah at all. There is no purpose in this Emunah, for one who believes this, has no reason to keep the Torah Hakdosha and the Mitzvos, Chas V'shalom.

The Rambam in Hilchos Avodah Zarah 1 says that this was the error of the generation of Enosh, that they did not believe that Hakodosh Boruch Hu was running the world until they lost their entire belief in Hakodosh Boruch Hu. If one believes that Hakodosh Boruch Hu runs the world, but He did not create it, or vice versa that means that the person does not have any Emunah in Hakodosh Boruch Hu. It is one and the same Hakodosh Boruch Hu created the world and has always and will always, control every aspect of the world.
