Sukkos 5678 – שם משמואל

Vayikra 23:43 "למען ידעו דרתיכם כי בסכות הושבתי את בני ישראל בהוציאי אותם מארץ מצרים, אני ד' אלקיכם", So that your generations will know that I caused the B'nei Yisroel to dwell in booths when I took them out from the land of Mitzrayim, I am Hashem, your G-d." Why does the Posuk end with "'אני ד אלקיכם"? There are Mitzvos which use these words and explanations because they are Mitzvos which are hard for a person to do due to the outlay of money, and thus the Torah needs to give extra encouragement - or to stress that Hakodosh Boruch Hu is believed to pay reward. These don't seem to fit here, as to why the Torah says this here by this Mitzvah. It says in the Sefer כד הקמח that the Sukkah brings one to Ruach Hakodesh, as the סוכה is a Loshon of "ראיה" seeing. This is as we know that Sarah Imeinu was called "יסכה" and the reason for that name was because she was כתה ברוח הקודש - because she saw - she had Ruach Hakodesh. The question is, why does this Mitzvah have the potential to bring one to Ruach Hakodesh more than other Mitzvos? In truth, every Yid has a holy Neshama which comes from below the Kisai Hakovod, a part of Hakodosh Boruch Hu. One should always have Ruach Hakodesh with such a holy Neshama, but the Aveiros one has do not allow the Ruach Hakodesh to come. In addition, the Tumah of sins cause the air in this world to be stuffed up, so that Ruach Hakodesh cannot enter. It is only to those who reach an exceedingly exalted level that are Zoche to achieve Ruach Hakodesh.

When there was a Bais Hamikdash, there were many who were Zoche to Ruach Hakodesh. The reason for this was that the place of the Bais Hamikdash was a place of holiness, a place where ten miracles occurred daily. The Bais Hamikdash wasn't attached to Gashmiyos the way the rest of the world was, and thus it was easier for the pure Neshomos to be able to receive Ruach Hakodesh. The Seforim Hakdoshim tell us that the Sukkah is comparable to the Bais Hamikdash. The Gematria of "סוכה" is the same as the Shem Havayah and the Shem Adnus (י-ה-ו-ה, א-ד-נ-י) - as these Names of Hakodosh Boruch Hu connect the upper worlds with the lower worlds - similar to what the Bais Hamikdash did. Being that the Sukkah is a form of the Bais Hamikdash, it too can help foster Ruach Hakodesh, and thus we say that one can achieve Ruach Hakodesh through the Sukkah. Now we can understand why the Posuk ends, "'אני ד' אלקיכם" for the Torah is telling us that through this great Mitzvah of Sukkah, one has the great opportunity to know Hakodosh Boruch Hu, as it is a place above this world, connected to the world Above, and a place where one can achieve Ruach Hakodesh - a connection to Hakodosh Boruch Hu.
