<p>The Gemara in Sukkos 27b - Rebbe Eliezer says that just as a person is not Yotzai his obligation on the first day of Yom Tov with the Lulav of his friend, as the Posuk says Vayikra 23:40 "ולקחתם לכם" it needs to be משלכם - which Rashi explains that the Posuk is excluding a stolen or borrowed Lulav. Similarly one is not Yotzai his obligation with the Sukkah of his friend, as it says in Devorim 16:13 " חג לך תעשה הסוכות" שלך. The Chachomim say that although one is not Yotzai his obligation of Lulav on the first day of Yom Tov with the Lulav of his friend, one is Yotzai his obligation of dwelling in a Sukkah in his friend's Sukkah, as the Posuk in Vayikra 23:42 says "כל האזרח בישראל ישבו בסוכות" - which teaches us that all of Klal Yisroel can dwell in one Sukkah. We need to understand, according to the Chachomim, why is it that with a Lulav one can only be Yotzai with his own, while for Sukkah one can be Yotzai with another's Sukkah?</p>
