Arousing the Neshamah

Havineini | June 27, 2025

Connecting to tzaddikim is one of the ways in which we can arouse and awaken our neshamah so that its light will illuminate. By learning the Torah of the tzaddikim and reflecting upon their teachings, our neshamos will become illuminated. When a person understands this, he will realize that interest in news and politics and other nonsense of This World is a total waste.

To a person who spends his time on these frivolities, we say: You enjoy these things? Know that right inside your neshamah there are hidden gems and brilliant revelations and discoveries and inspirations waiting for you—which will give you a million times more pleasure than the frivolities of This World.

A person is drawn to these things because he’s empty. Indeed, when we see that a person is walking around trying to hear the latest in news and politics, it’s a great pity on this person. We must support him and have rachmanus on him. His pain is deep. His neshamah is searching for something... some meaning... to no avail. And instead, he engages in this nonsense. He’s talking, but he isn’t really saying anything.
