Dear Torah From My Eyes

Words of Wisdom from Rabbi Yitzi | June 27, 2025

Despite facing one of life’s most difficult challenges, Rabbi Yitzi Hurwitz continues to spread joy and faith to thousands around the globe. Diagnosed in 2012 with ALS, Rabbi Yitzi is now 95% paralyzed and no longer able to speak or breath on his own. Thanks to the miracle of technology, Rabbi Yitzi continues to spread his wisdom through his eyes, focusing on each and every letter of these Torah articles. Rabbi Yitzi, his wife Dina and their seven children are the Rebbe’s Shluchim to Temecula, California.

“Dear Torah From My Eyes
I recently read Rabbi Yitzi’s story on Chabad.org, and wow! I thought he was amazing in how he handled the change to his life. Not only has it not bright him down, but he has found a way to keep doing mitzvahs and inspire others to do the same!
I was so impressed when I discovered Tefilin For Yitzi and the joy that the Rabbi receives by his wish to reach every Jew with the Mitzvah of Tefillin for men and Shabbat candles for women. Beautiful!
I found him on social media and decided to follow. He has the ability to bring light from a possibly dark moment/place and to help us grow as Jews bringing his light to the world, which in turn brings joy and light to the Rabbi, just amazing.
He touches my heart and gives me hope. In general, I struggle with hope even if I do all the actions I am supposed to.
I hope the Rabbi and his family are doing well; I keep them in my prayers.
With grace,”
- Melissa F, California
