Swallow
The swallow has been put forward as one of a number of contending identification of the type of bird that was to be used in a cleansing ritual for members of the congregation who have overcome leprosy. (See Leviticus 14:4).
The swallow is a kosher summer migrant, with a forked tail.
Diet: Insectivorous
Habitat: Africa and Europe
Voice: Twittering sequence.
Jay
Possibly the bird used in a cleansing ritual for members of the congregation who have overcome leprosy. (See Leviticus 14:4).
It is a kosher, shy member of the crow family.
Diet: Carnivorous/Herbivorous
Habitat: Woodland
Voice: Wide range of calls (mimics human speech).
