Question:
The holy Torah is so big—is there a particular part that I should invest myself in more than others?
Answer:
The Rosh Yeshiva of Beis-Yosef Novardok of Mezritch, Rebbi Dovid Bliecher z"l hy"d, said as follows: "B'soraso yehgeh yohmam va'lylah" ("A person shall apply himself to his part of Torah"), meaning the part of Torah that speaks to you! And if you don't know what that is, then "experiment" (with your rebbi's supervision) until you find simply what works for you, and stick to it. "Amaleik" is gematria (numerical value) safeik (doubt), and there is nothing that takes away menuchas hanefesh and simchas hachaim (calmness and happiness) more than living a small-minded life full of doubts and worries. If all your "worries" somehow bring you more "menucha v'simcha" and a healthier connection with Hashem, then go for it. But for so many of us, it is nothing more than a trick and trap of the yeitzer hara (evil inclination)!
