וְהָיָה בַיּוֹם הַשְּׁ בִיעִי יְגַלַּח אֶת כָּל שְׂ עָרוֹ אֶת רֹאשׁוֹ וְאֶת זְקָנוֹ וְאֵת גַּבֹּת עֵינָיו וְאֶת כָּל שְׂ עָרוֹ וגו' (יד, ט)
And it shall be, on the seventh day, that he shall shave off all his hair: that of his head, his beard, his eyebrows. (14:9)
The Kli Yakar writes that a metzorah is commanded to shave off the hair of these three specific places because they are connected to the sins that cause tzora’as. He shaves the hair of his head to atone for the sin of haughtiness, i.e., thinking he is head and shoulders above others. He shaves the hair of his beard – which are around his mouth – to atone for the sin of lashon hara. He shaves the hair of his eyebrows to atone for “tzaros ayin” (stinginess).
