Questions To Rabbi Mandel
Feels Guilty for Sins
Question:
Thank you for the constant Chizuk I receive from hearing your shiurim, and from the Emuna and Bitachon hotline.
Please help me in my situation. I realized that through carelessness/wrong reasoning/denial, I have unfortunately sinned greatly. I have been davening to Hashem to forgive me...
How do I know if my Teshuva is accepted?
I am worried about punishment, and the Ruchaniyus effect I may have brought...
I am worried about the Din when Moshiach comes...
I worry if Hashem is Chas V'shalom angry with me. My whole life, I have TRIED to do Ratzon Hashem... How could I have erred?...
How can I be B’simcha when this weighs so heavily on my heart?
Thank you for your time, and may Hashem continue to grant you the Emes with which to guide us.
Answer: You should realize that this is nothing more than the Yetzer Hara. The Yetzer Hara is trying to get you to think that Hashem doesn't like you. But that is a total lie. It's a test, to see if you will function without the immediate gratification. A person doesn't need to only live with the feeling of love and approval for what they are doing. You have to do Mitzvos because it’s a Mitzva, and that way you will get more Schar. The worry that Hashem doesn't like you is a big Yetzer Hara, and you have to go extreme and insist that Hashem loves you.
כִּי אֶת אֲשֶר יֶאֱהַב ה' יוֹכִּיחַ משלי ג יב Hashem gives difficulties only to those He loves. Only Tzadikim have difficult tests, and your situation proves just the opposite, it’s a proof that you are great. That’s how you should view it, because your thoughts are the real Yetzer Hara. NEVER PUT YOURSELF DOWN, NO MATTER WHAT! You have to work on viewing yourself positively.
