At Our Lowest Point, Hashem Loves Us Most

Chazal say that when the K'ruvim faced each other it was a sign that the Yidden were doing: םוֹקָמ לֶשׁ וֹנוֹצְר the will of Hashem. 40 years before the Churban their faces were turned away, as a sign that the Yidden were sinning. On Tisha B'av they were actually hugging each other.

At our lowest point, Hashem loves us the most. Actually, all the Din of this world is really a Kapara, it saves from Gehinom, and it is a Zechus. Also, if a person says Gam Zu L’tovah, extreme goodness can emerge. As soon as we went into Galus, Talmud Bavli was created, and Klal Yisroel was Zoche to high Madregos through their Mesirus Nefesh for being frum despite living among Goyim [and jumping into fire Al Kiddush Hashem].

A Yid Was Created to Strive

We can also suggest that hugging is not a Ma'ala, and it is a Remez that when a Yid is total success it is actually a Churban. Like the Kotzker Rebbe said: If you are “finished” and perfect, then you are “cooked up” and are worthless. A Yid was created to strive his entire life. When the K'ruvim faced each other, it can be a symbol of wanting to be in the right direction.

Just like the six Neiros of the Menorah faced the middle seventh Ner. And just like by the Parah Aduma the Cohen had to aim the blood towards the Kodesh HaKodoshim. Our entire life is a process of aiming in the right direction and seeking the truth and Shleimus. When you turn away, it is like: הָרֹכְבַּה תֶא וָשֵׂﬠ זֶבִיַּוכה לד Eisav who despised and gave up the Bechora. As long as we don’t throw away and give up, then we are: ןיִשׂוֹע םוֹקָמ לֶשׁ וֹנוֹצְר doing Hashem’s will, and this is Kodesh Kodashim [even if we are young and inexperienced Avdei Hashem, like those baby K'ruvim].

A Person Must Have Tremendous Chashivus for Every Tiny Avodas Hashem He Does

A person has to realize that even a baby-size tiny Avodas Hashem can be Kodesh Kodashim in the eyes of Hashem, like Chazal say: הָוְצִמְבּ ריִהָז יֵוֱהֶו הָרוּמֲחַבְכּ הָלַּק אבות ב א Be as careful with the “light” Mitzvos as you are with the serious ones. And Chazal say that to Hashem, the spiritually “impoverished” are equal to the greatest Tzadikim.

The message of the K'ruvim is that a person has to have tremendous Chashivus for every tiny Avodas Hashem that he does. And even if he sees himself like a nobody-tiny-baby, he may be considered Kodesh Kodashim in the eyes of Hashem. We can also suggest that the holiest thing in the world is having an Ayin Tova. You refuse to see evil in anyone. You are like a tiny baby who doesn’t Chap the evil that goes on in the world.

Big People Are Not Sensitive

The Chazon Ish said about a person who is always getting angry and insulted that this is a sign of being a small person. People who think big and live with Hashem are not so Makpid on their Kavod. Worrying about your Kavod all day, and being too concerned about the impression you make on people, makes you a spiritually low person.

A person I know, was close to the Kapitchnitzer Rebbe. He observed that the Rebbe was not a sensitive person. He was busy doing Chesed for others day and night. Getting hurt by others and angry at people, was not his thing. Even when the Nazis forced him to do menial work in order to be M’vazeh him, he still didn’t seem to care, since his Kavod meant nothing to him.

A higher person [more spiritual] who lives in order to come close to Hashem through Bitachon and perfecting his Middos, does not care if others seem to be more successful than him. He isn’t busy competing and being jealous of others’ accomplishments, as he knows that “accomplishment” is in the hands of Hashem. He enjoys his davening, learning, Chasadim, and Bitachon in Hashem, and has no time for pettiness.

Look at the “person in your life” as if he is a baby who doesn’t understand what he’s doing, and be Dan him L'kaf Zechus. Notice how Dovid HaMelech judged his worst enemies L'kaf Zechus!

A person who isn’t Makpid on his Kavod sees only good in others. And indeed, it says that Shaul was M'ayen investigated in seeing only bad in Dovid. Dovid had that Temimus and innocence, and the Aron HaKodesh was his inspiration.

Bitachon And Ayin Tova Need Lots of Ignorance and Temimus

Dovid had also said: וֹמִּא יֵלֲﬠ לֻמָגְכּ יִשְׁפַנ ב אלק םילהת I am like a baby in his mother’s arms; this is why he was such a phenomenal Baal Bitachon. And the K'ruvim are indeed: וֹמִּא יֵלֲﬠ לֻמָגְכּ like babies. A Yid has to aim all his life to be a Tamim like Yaakov Ish Tam. He starts off like copper, like the outside and the Mizbeach of the Mishkan. RSRH calls copper ignoble [and it is fake imitation of gold]. It symbolizes brazen Chutzpa! But he ends off with pure gold and innocent K'ruvim.

A person has to see only good in others, like R’ Ahron Belzer Zatzal, who would say the weirdest unbelievable praises about the worst people. And he was Zoche to the highest Madregos in all areas, Davka because of his unusual Ayin Tova. I heard this from R’ Mordechai Feder Zatzal, who himself was a Tzaddik Yesod Olam, and he knew R' Ahron Belzer Zatzal.

He told me that R' Ahron’s Ayin Tova was the Yesod of his phenomenal greatness in all areas. Indeed, Ayin Tova is Kodesh Kodashim, as we see by the K'ruvim. This is also the Temimus of a true Baal Bitachon, like R' Yisroel Salanter Zatzal says: “Where Sechel stops, Bitachon begins.” Again, we see how an “ignorant” baby-like person becomes the biggest Baal Bitachon!

Chazal say that the main Sechel is having Bitachon! And not being such a “smarty”. So, if you’re working on Bitachon and Ayin Tova, think of those innocent baby face K'ruvim, and realize that what you’re doing is in the Kodesh HaKodoshim.
