There is an amazing concept in kabbalah that is referred to as gevanim ilayim, supernal colors. This concept teaches that each one of the sefiros of divine emanation is represented by a color. In a non-physical sense these colors are the way in which G-dliness is revealed in the world.
We are able to reveal these divine colors through aligning ourselves, our traits, and our spiritual essence with Hashem’s will and divine attributes. When we involve ourselves in chesed, we align with the divine attribute of chesed and we become a channel for the light of chesed and its supernal color to be revealed into the world. When we become introspective and work through our actions, challenges, and behaviors we align with the attribute of bina and healthy self-judgment thereby becoming a channel for the divine attributes of bina and gevurah. We shine the light and beautiful colors of the ten sefirot of divine emanation.
We can actually become a partner in channeling the light of pure spiritual emanation and G-dliness in the world.
In order to do this we need to sift through the confusion, darkness, and filth of this world and find our own powerful attributes. We need to align our personal traits and experiences with the ten sefirot. For this, we have to focus on, and find our own nekudot tovot, good points. These points of goodness represent our own divinity, our soul fighting against our physicality and the darkness of this world to reveal a tremendous light. Our points of goodness are our deeper soul revealing its light and dispelling the darkness of this world!
We can also do our part to dispel darkness and bring G-dly light into the world by looking for and nurturing the points of goodness in our family, friends, and all of Klal Yisrael. When we judge favorably we look for the goodness of a friend. When we provide words of positivity, friendship, and encouragement, we nurture the spark of goodness and holiness in those around us. We can draw our own portion of G-dly light into the world, and we can help our chaverim and family members to fan the flames of their own light and spirituality as well.
This is what the parsha is referring to when it explains the items that were donated to the functioning of the mishkan by the B’nei Yisrael. They didn’t just all give money. Rather, the Torah tells that they gave gold, silver, copper, techeiles, argaman, and other precious items. The Torah is telling us that when it comes to making our contribution to the holiness of the universe, we don’t all bring the same thing to the table. We each have a unique soul that brings a unique power into the world. Some bring kindness, some bring strength. Some bring money, others bring Torah. Some bring leadership, others bring temimut. Across all aspects, we all have a different combination of points of goodness, and when we do our part to make them shine, we are fulfilling our purpose in making a tikkun to the entire creation.
Over the past few months we have seen the power of a united Jewish People. Some fight on the front lines, while others pray, donate, tie tzitzis, provide food, learn Torah, sing and inspire, take care of children, and families of those who cannot be there. We are seeing a vision of all of the supernal colors in a way that we have not seen for a very long time. We should be zoche to see all of the holy colors of Klal Yisrael shine together with great light of the Melech HaMashiach very soon.
