You, Your Dilemma, and the Ribbono shel Olam

Havineini | February 28, 2026

Often, when a person goes through a painful dilemma, one of the most difficult aspects of the ordeal is feeling utterly alone in the experience. This itself gives a person an unpleasant feeling: “Everyone is doing fine, everyone’s going on with their lives, everyone manages to find a way forward—leaving me behind to carry my load all alone. No one understands me; no one knows the tzaros that I’m enduring.”

One reason the Ribbono shel Olam may sometimes create such circumstances is because He yearns for us to turn to Him out of the depths of our situation in a real way. If we were to have company in this ordeal, we wouldn’t be able to properly experience deveikus with Hashem.
