27:38 “ויאמר עשו הברכה אחת הוא לך אבי” – “And Eisav said: have you but one blessing father?” At the end of Sefer Devorim, the Torah tells us the Brochos that Moshe Rabbeinu gave to Klal Yisroel- “וזאת הברכה אשר ברך משה”. The Ba’al Haturim says that the words, “וזאת הברכה” are the same Gematria as “זו התורה”. This is to teach us that all of the physical Brochos which Moshe Rabbeinu Bentched Klal Yisroel with, it was all in order for them to be Mekayeim the Torah Hakdosha. They should be blessed with Gashmiyos so that there nothing holding them back from properly performing their Avodas Hashem. This is why the Posuk says, “וזאת הברכה” – singular - -one Brocha, for although there were many Brochos – it was really all one and the same – it was that they should have Brocha so that they should have the Torah – the Brocha was for Torah. Similarly, here, Yitzchok Avinu gave numerous Brochos, though they were really all one. It was all that Yaakov Avinu should be able to serve Hakodosh Boruch Hu without anything holding him back from doing so. Thus, Yaakov Avinu needed Brochos of Olam Hazeh, so that he could toil in Torah. However, Eisav wanted Brochos of Gashmiyos, Brochos of Olam Hazeh, so that he could fulfill all of his physical desires and follow after the physical trappings of this world, and not for matters of Ruchniyos. Thus, one Brocha was not enough for Eisav, he wanted numerous Brochos. This is what Eisav was saying to his father here – that one blessing is not enough for him – but he needs many.
