5748–1987, after prayers, Rabbi Mordechai Savitsky — a distinguished rabbi and Torah scholar who had previously served as head of the Boston Rabbinical Court — asked to meet privately with the Rebbe. The Rebbe agreed, and the two spoke at length on a range of Torah topics. Before parting, the Rebbe encouraged the elderly rabbi to give more Torah classes and to publish additional Torah works.
