Did Not Make Kiddush at Night

14. One who did not make Kiddush at night, whether accidentally or knowingly, can make it up the entire next day (שו''ע ס''ח). He should say the complete text of the night Kiddush but not “ויכולו” (רמ''א שם); he should not say the text of the Shabbos day Kiddush (ערוה''ש סכ''א).

15. Thus, if one found something on the becher he used at night that renders it pasul; heard Kiddush from someone he cannot be yotzei with; or was in the hospital all night and did not make Kiddush, he should say the night Kiddush by day.

16. One who must say the night Kiddush by day may not eat or drink anything – even water – before Kiddush, even before Shacharis. This halachah is the same as before the night Kiddush, as will be explained. An exception to this is someone ill who needs to eat or drink (שו"ת האלף לך שלמה סי' קכ''א, הגרשז''א, שש''כ פנ''ב הערה ל''ב).
