In All Your Ways

Rebbe Responsa | January 20, 2026

Every Jew must use professional influence to disseminate Torah values; a diplomatic posting offers unique opportunities to fulfill this

By the Grace of G-d

21st of Cheshvan, 5741
Brooklyn, N.Y.
The Hon. Consulate General
425 Park Ave.
New York, N.Y. 10022
Greeting and Blessing:

This is to acknowledge receipt of your letter in which you write that you assumed duty as Consul General, New York. May G-d grant that it be with the utmost Hatzlocho.

Your letter was particularly welcome after the prolonged interval, though I inquired and received regards from you through mutual friends.

I trust that your new position will give you increased opportunities in keeping with the instruction: “Know Him in all your ways” (Mishlei 3:6), with emphasis on “all your ways.” Including activities which at first glance have no connection with the knowledge of G-d. In other words, the Torah, Toras Emes, makes it the duty of every Jew, regardless of his walk in life, etc., to use his good influence to disseminate the eternal values of Torah and Yiddishkeit among Jews with whom he comes in contact and wherever he has an influence. I have in mind particularly your influence in Johannesburg and South Africa in general, where, as you know, our Lubavitch activists are doing dedicated work to spread and strengthen true Yiddishkeit.

With all good wishes and,
With esteem and blessing,
