Non-Abstract Bitachon

Rebbe Responsa | June 27, 2025

Excerpt from a letter of Adar 5729

...This is the opportune time to add a few words also on the importance of Bitochon, trust in G-d, which is one of the very foundations of our religion and of our Torah, and which is called Toras Chaim, also in the plain sense of the term, namely that it is our true guide in the daily life. Moreover, trust in G-d, as amply explained in various sources, is not an abstract concept, nor is it confined to the realm of the spirit, but it is also simply an empirical factor directly related to the Jew's daily life in all its aspects. Our Torah is also called Toras Emes, which means that its teachings are the absolute truth. Consequently, the matter of trust in G-d is not merely an arbitrary means to alleviate anxiety, but it is really true that a person can rely on G-d and that his trust is fully justified. There is no need to elaborate further to you on this subject.
