Why does Parshas Va'era start off with mentioning the details of three families; Reuven, Shimon, and Levi? The Netziv brings down a Medrash that these three Shevotim were the leaders of Klal Yisroel in Mitzrayim. We can also suggest that these three Shevotim were cursed by Yaakov Avinu, so the Torah wants to be Machshiv specifically them to be M'chazek them.
Also, to show how suddenly Levi is on top! The same Shevet that lost their Chelek in Eretz Yisroel [Yaakov Avinu declared: בֹקֲﬠַיְבּ םֵקְלַּחֲא יחיו מט ז they shall be dispersed among the Shevotim] because of their Chisaron in Middos, is now #1! Yetzias Mitzrayim means breaking all kinds of םיִרָציֵמ boundaries, especially in Ruchaniyus!
The worst become the best, and: םיִקיִדַצ ןיֵא םיִדְמוֹע הָבוּשְׁתּ יֵלֲﬠַבֶּשׁ םוֹקָמְבּ דוֹמֲﬠַל ןיִלוֹכְי םיִרוּמְג ברכות לד ב Baalei Teshuva are even GREATER than pure Tzaddikim! The: םִיָתָפְשׂ לַרֲﬠ hopeless orator becomes the greatest leader, and those who got a K'lala from Yaakov Avinu are suddenly way on top of Klal Yisroel. How inspiring for all of us! Look how Hashem makes: םִיַרְצִמְבּ יִתְּלַלַּעְתִה a joke out of “Mitzrayim”, which can be understood that He makes a joke of all the “rules”!

The Rambam says the simple Pshat in: ֶא- ֶא רֶשֲׁא הֶיְה-הֶיְה is: I WILL BE TO A PERSON AS HE PERCEIVES ME. If he believes I can do Nissim L'maala MiDerech HaTevah, then he will get exactly what he believes. If he believes in only Tevah, then Hashem will give him a life of Tevah.
