A Personal Tefillah

The Way of Emunah | December 10, 2025

In general, the ability of prosecuting forces to obstruct a tefillah only applies to regular people who daven by rote. If, however, a person prays with real emotion and pours out his heart to Hashem, he never needs to fear these forces. This is discerned by the Bais Avrohom (Parshas Vayigash) from the words (Bereishis 45:1): “And no man was standing there when Yosef revealed himself to his brothers.” He sees this as a hint that when a Jew pours out his heart to Hashem, he is like the son of a king speaking to his father privately. No one – not even a high-ranking minister – is permitted to be present at such a time. So too, when a Jew makes a personal request of Hashem, no other force is permitted to be part of the conversation.
