The matzah chaburah “matzos machmirim” under the kashrus guidance of R’ Moshe Bransdorfer shlita and Rav Shmuel Dovid HaKohen Gross shlita from Ashdod, came up with an idea to make matzos avodas yad [hand matzos], using the help of a manual mechanism, which helped speed up the process of creating matzos to one minute and twenty seconds from the time of kneading until the end baking. The processing is done with a manual machine, and the rolling is also carried out very fast using special machinery, and all operations are carried out with koach adam [direct human input], and not koach koichi [secondary human input].
Strong Opposition
On the other hand, many gedolei haposkim published letters stating that according to the Divrei Chaim and those who follow in his footsteps these matzos are considered machine matzos (see the letters that came out below on pg. 22). Rabbi Asher Weiss shlita in a shiur criticized this trend very harshly, saying that this is geneivas da’as [stealing people’s knowledge], and it is logical that it is also considered to be stealing people’s money, since these matzos are not “hand matzos” but rather “machine matzos”.
