The Spiritual Connection Between Megilas Esther and Likkutei Torah

We can add further that there is even continuity between the Maamorim of Megilas Esther at the end of the book of ‘Torah Ohr’ with the beginning of ‘Likkutei Torah’.

This is because the last Maamor in the collection of Maamorim on Megilas Esther of ‘Torah Ohr’ is the Maamor with the starting words וּבָּזֶׁה הַנַעֲרָּה בָּאָּה where the Alter Rebbe explains that the וּבָּזֶׁה is the ‘shaft’ between the lower Gan Eden and the upper Gan Eden in and through which the Neshomos ascend from the lower Gan Eden to the upper Gan Eden which is the deeper meaning of the words: “בָּאָּה אֶׁל הַמֶׁלֶׁךְ” “come to the King”.

The deeper meaning of this shaft is the state of ‘Bittul’ because [each and] every elevation can only occur via first self-nullifying the previous level. This explains the words in the Megilah also regarding Esther לֹא בִקְשָּה דָּבָּר “she never requested anything” because she operated with absolute ‘Bittul’.

[N.B. the Bittul of the shaft is not just [concerning] after a Neshomoh leaves the body but it can also operate whilst the Neshomoh [still resides] within the body, as is understood from these words about Esther; לֹא בִקְשָּה דָּבָּר “she never requested anything” they were said of her whilst she was still a Neshomoh in a body].

Also, the first Maamor in Likkutei Torah with the opening words הַשַבָּתרְאוּ כִי ה׳ נָּתַן לָּכֶׁם is discussing this very concept of the ascent from the lower Gan Eden to the higher Gan Eden via the river [Nahar] Dinur that divides between them. One needs to immerse in this river (this is the concept of ‘Bittul’) in order to ‘forget’ the pleasures of the lower Gan Eden when coming to the upper Gan Eden so as not to be confused there.

So it transpires that the books of Torah Ohr and Likkutei Torah are indeed connected one to the other in that the content in Parshas VaYakel and the content in the end of the Maamorim on the Megilah at the end of the book of Torah Ohr speak about the same topics as the Maamorim in the beginning of Likkutei Torah in the Maamor of Parshas Beshalach as is mentioned earlier. This explains the seeming oddity of having these particular Maamorim finishing one book and that particular Maamor starting the next book.
