At the end of the Yom Kippur Shemoneh Esrei we say, עד שלא נוצרתי איני כדאי, before I was formed I was unworthy. A deeper understanding of these words is that each of us enters the world at the precise moment when we are needed.
Before we were formed, there was no need for us. Hashem sends us into His world at the exact moment when we are worthy, that our skills, talents and abilities and even our challenges are uniquely needed by the world, by our neighbors, family and friends. We are perfectly suited to the time and place we inhabit, fulfilling a specific role in the grand tapestry of creation.
It has been said that a birthday marks the day that Hashem decided the world can’t continue without you. You, as an individual, are unique and irreplaceable. No one else, past, present, or future, can fulfill the unique mission entrusted to you.
This concept underscores the profound value of each individual. We are not merely cogs in a machine; we are essential components of a vibrant and interconnected world. Our presence is a testament to the divine plan and the intricate balance of existence.
