Mad makes us and everyone around us sad

We all have very good reasons for getting angry.... Mad makes us - and everyone around us - sad. We get angry because we feel helpless. We get frustrated because we lack control. We become furious because our loved one's behavior terrifies us. There's always an underlying reason for our mad face. When we share the underlying reason INSTEAD of the anger, we often have a more powerful impact. "I've asked you so many times to clean up after yourself and you're still leaving dishes on the table - I don't know what to do anymore; I just feel helpless." Try it and see what happens.

We all want our way on the matters that are important to us..... Make sure that your spouse gets his/her way HALF the time. Of course, there will be opportunities to meet each other half way - that is, compromise - on many issues, on many occasions - but there are also be plenty of situations where only one of you can "win." For example you may want another child and your spouse may not - only one of you will be happy with the outcome. On those kinds of issues make sure that your partner is happy with HALF the outcomes. Otherwise, you've got a dictatorship, not a marriage.
