However, the truth is, that this is not what Hashem wants from us. Hashem didn’t give the Torah to the angels of Heaven. Rather, He gave it to us on Planet Earth, with all of our imperfections. Thus, although we should follow the basic halachah, we shouldn’t waste time trying to be perfect, and instead, we should attach ourselves to Torah and tefillah with consistency – each person according to his level.
In fact, Rebbe Nachman even made fun of being overly concerned with cleanliness. When we really look with eyes of truth at our situation in this world, we can see that this practice is very foolish. Every moment we have an opportunity to make enormous tikkunim by learning Torah, davening, and doing mitzvos. This is the unbelievable power of a Jew in this world – something that even the holy angels of Heaven can’t accomplish. So, why should we spend that invaluable time trying to be like the angels, when Hashem is not asking that from us, and anyways, our Torah and tefillah are far more valuable than the angels' perfect service of HaKadosh Baruch Hu?
