Heavenly Help in Accordance With Earthly Acts:

Rashi states: “He bent (vayeit) his shoulder: He lowered his shoulder, similar to “And He bent (vayeit) the Heavens.” Incline (hatu) your ear...”

The Bais Yisroel zy”a states that Rashi is hinting that if a person bends his ear to hear and accept the yoke of Heaven, then the Heavens will bend to him. The more one does his part, the more Heavenly help he will receive.

Connecting to a Chaburah Creates Warmth:

Rav Tzvi Hirsch of Rimanov zy”a (quoted in Sefer Be’eros Hamayim) explains the pasuk as follows: “Gather” yourself with true love. “And I will relate you” (agidah lachem) – “agidah” is a term of “tying”. Tie yourselves together with a bond of love. “What will occur (yikrah) to you” – “yikrah” is a term of coldness (kerirus). If the bond ever becomes cold and discord arises... “At the end of days” – when Moshiach arrives and we will all be connected with love, we will be warmed up again.

He saw a resting place, that it was good, and the land, that it was pleasant, and he bent his shoulder to bear burdens... (49:15)

For Your salvation, I hope, Hashem. (49:18)

Three Ways to Understand This Verse:

The Slonimer Rebbe zy”a (Sefer Divrei Shmuel) notes that we recite this pasuk three times, with slightly different variations – “l’yeshuascha kivisi Hashem”, “kivisi Hashem l’yeshuascha”, and “Hashem l’yeshuascha kivisi.” Each version has a slightly different connotation. The verse of “l’yeshuascha kivisi Hashem” refers to seeing Hashem’s kindness openly and immediately. The words “kivisi Hashem l’yeshuascha” refers to times when a person must arouse Divine kindness before it can be revealed to him. The words “Hashem l’yeshuascha kivisi” refer to times when a person cannot see where his salvation will come from but he still trusts fully in Hashem and places his faith in Him until the yeshua arrives.

From the G-d of your father, and He will help you, and with the Almighty, and He will bless you... (49:25)

One Who Believes in Hashem Merits Receiving His Help:

Sefer Divrei Yisroel translates the verse as follows: “Mei’al avicha” – when one believes and trusts that everything is from our Father in Heaven and everything is orchestrated with Divine Providence. “V’ya’azrecha” – then He will help him and send His salvation.

One Who is Satisfied With Little Receives a Lot:

Alternatively, the Divrei Shmuel explains: “Mei’al avicha” – if one recognizes that Hashem is his Father who certainly wants to help him like a father desires to help his son. “V’ya’azrecha” – he will then receive His help. “And Shakai will bless you” – the name “Shakai refers to the trait of being satisfied with little (Chagigah 12A; Zohar Hakadosh Pinchos 251B). When a person is happy with what he has, Hashem will provide him with a lot of blessings.
