Based on the Dvar Malchus of Shabbos Parshas Vayeira, 5752
The Rebbe Rashab was only a young boy when the above story took place, but even at such a young and tender age his holiness was already apparent and obvious to all. He cried so much because he longed so much to see Hashem. We should learn from his fine character and behavior already shown at such a young age, especially us who are close in age to what the Rebbe Rashab was then.
The Rebbe Melech Hamoshiach Shlita tells us what we can learn from the story when the Rebbe Rashab cried and from the answer the Tzemach Tzedek gave him.
We are immediately reminded of the complete geula when we read the posuk, "Vayeira eilav havaya." Regarding the geula, the Torah tells us, "Virau kol basar yachdav ki pi havaya diber." Then, every Jew will see Hashem in His most revealed and simplistic form. The Midrash tells us that the continuation of the posuk "...Vihu yosheiv pesach haohel kichom hayom...", referring to the future when Hashem will take the sun out from its protective covering and will heal all those who are sick.
The crying boy
When the Admor Harashab was a very young child, around four or five years old, he went into yechidus with his grandfather the Rebbe the Tzemach Tzedek. He was really crying. The parsha of the week then was parshas vayeira. That day he learned Chumash in cheider from his milamed when Hashem appeared to Avraham after he performed a bris mila on himself. In a sobbing, crying voice, he asked, "Why doesn't Hashem appear to us as He appeared to Avraham?" His grandfather the Tzemach Tzedek answered, "When a Jew a tzadik who's ninety nine years old decides to give himself a bris mila, he becomes worthy of Hashem's revelation."
We long for the geula
The Gemara Brachos says regarding tzadikim, "Butzin, butzin, mikatfei yidiei." Tzadikim are compared to a big pumpkin. Everyone knows that even though it starts out small in the growing process, it will eventually become bigger than all the other vegetables of the field.
The most important thing to learn from parshas vayeira is for each and every one of us to really long for the revelation of "Vayeira eilav havaya" that will take place during the true and complete geula, and to do everything possible in order for this to happen by making sure that whatever he/she does now is appropriate for that time.
The Rebbe Rashab longed so much to see Hashem. In a similar manner we should also long for the complete geula. The Rebbe the Tzemach Tzedek said that in order to see Hashem, we have to be worthy and ready for it. Similarly, we have to be worthy and ready to receive the great revelation of the complete geula.
Every Jew has a spark of Moshiach within himself. This spark isn't limited by anything nor is it in golus. Therefore when this spark will be revealed during the geula, we will be able to serve Hashem without being bothered by the yetzer hara. Now, the Rebbe teaches and gives us the strength and ability to behave properly as is befitting of the time of the geula. We will then be able to see in actuality the big revelation that will take place very soon.
The special generations
What we said above is especially relevant starting from the time of the Rebbe Rashab, whose birthday is on the twentieth day of the month marcheshvan. He was involved in things that prepared the world to greet Moshiach, such as setting up the Tomchei Timimim yeshiva, where Chassidus is learned, a sampling and taste from the teachings of Moshiach, and a place where the timimim – chayolei beis dovid – receive their education. Their job is to bring about the revelation of Moshiach ben David.
A long time has passed since then, three generations, a time when the chayolei beis dovid have victoriously completed their jobs. We are now in the year of niflaos bakol, the wonders of the true and complete geula.
Moshiach has already arrived!
Until now we have spoken about the revelations of the geula that we are so deserving of. The Rebbe Melech Hamoshiach Shlita at this point now begins to speak very clearly about the revelation of Moshiach Tzidkeinu, something that we are also very deserving of:
"...Furthermore and most important, as is known someone from the family of Yehuda is born in every generation who is worthy of being the Moshiach of the Jewish nation, worthy due to his righteousness to be the redeemer. When the time will come, Hashem Yisborech will reveal Himself to him and send him, etc. If not for those undesirable things that hinder and prevent, etc. he would have already been revealed and would have come in actuality.
In every generation there is one tzadik that's waiting to redeem the Jewish nation; the moment we are ready for the geula Hashem will reveal Himself to him and send him in order to bring about the geula. All of the generations until now weren't worthy enough and therefore that tzadik passed away and was replaced by the tzadik that followed him, perhaps he will be the one. This is referred to as "raui lihiyos moshiach". He's not yet moshiach.
My father-in-law nisee doreinu, the moshiach shebidoreinu, has informed us that all of our avoda has been completed and perfected. We are all ready to receive Moshiach Tzidkeinu. Nowadays, all of the hindrances are nonexistent; being that the case, not only does the Moshiach exist, he has also become revealed. Now we only have to greet the Moshiach Tzidkeinu in actuality!"
Our situation is entirely different. We are deserving of the geula! The avoda is finished. Things that get in our way are now non-existent. Therefore, our tzadik, who is in essence the nisee doreinu is not only worthy and waiting to be the Moshiach, he is the Moshiach in actuality. Hashem revealed Himself to him and sent him to redeem the Jewish nation.
The only thing left for us to do is to greet him, to know and to proclaim that Moshiach is already here.

"...The most important thing is that all of the above should be apparent and obvious to all and in actuality mamash. He points with his finger and says this, "...Behold the Melech Hamoshiach has arrived..." Behold, my father-in-law, the nisee doreinu, "...Viheenei elokeinu ze, etc., ze Hashem kivinu lo nagila vineesmicha beeshuaso..." the joy of the true and complete redemption in a revealed manner in actuality mamash, a time when we will make the blessing shehecheyanu vikiyimanu vihigeeanu lizman ha ze!"
