The People in Your Life Are Really Only Nisyonos

Rashi says that since Avraham was distressed because he wanted to do Hachnosas Orchim, Hashem sent him three Malachim who looked like humans. Why couldn’t Hashem just send real humans? We can suggest that the entire episode of Avraham Avinu and the Malachim is also a Mashal for what really happens throughout our own lives when we do Chesed (or any interactions with people).

All the people in your life, including your closest ones (like your wife and children) are really only Nisyonos. They are truly as if there was a Malach from Shamayim testing you how you will treat them. And when you feed them, it is as if they are Malachim, who don’t really eat, only to give you the Nachas Ruach that you should feel good about your Mitzva. Hashem gives you people in your life who need food and other things.

The #1 lesson I kept hearing from R' Chaim Mordechai Wainkrantz Zatzal was that in a person’s life, there is nothing but him and Hashem. All the “people” are just tests. It is known that he never, ever got angry at his wife. Zechuso yagen aleinu, Amen. This comes from all his years of hard work in Novardok. He was also a major Baal Ruach HaKodesh, and everyone noticed a Kedusha in his kitchen (where he learned).
