The Power of Achdus

The Way of Emunah | December 31, 2025

The Power of Achdus:

My father, the Kretchnifer Rebbe shlita, (quoted in Gilyon Divrei Torah Kretchnif-Yerushalaim) explains this pasuk by quoting the words of the Ruzhiner Rebbe zy”a on the words Yaakov Avinu said to his sons (Bereishis 49:1): “Gather and I will relate to you what will happen to you at the end of days.” The Ruzhiner Rebbe explains that he was hinting to them that at the end of days, during the generation immediately prior to Moshiach’s arrival, Klal Yisroel will face many problems and difficulties.

In such circumstances, it will be very difficult to retain one’s emunah. The only way to do so will be through unity and connecting to our fellow Yidden. Thus, Yaakov was saying that only by gathering together will we be able to get through what will happen at the end of days.

The word “achai” (my brothers) symbolizes warmth (as in Yirmiyahu 36:22). This word also represents unity and brotherly love. Accordingly, Yosef was saying that he was seeking warmth in avodas Hashem, which can only be found through achdus and forging connections with other Yidden.
