By A True Tzaddik, Everything Is Important and Precious

Chazal say that the Malachim got very excited when they saw Yaakov; they recognized him since his face was: חָ קוּק engraved on the Kisei HaKavod. Yaakov! Yaakov! The stones were also excited, and each one said: עָ לַ י יָנִ יחַ צַ דִ יק זֶה ר ֹאשוֹ חולין צא ב The Tzadik should rest his head on me! From the highest form of creation (the “Malachim”) to the lowest: דוֹמֵ ם lifeless "stones ", the entire universe lauds the perfect human being. Surely, Yaakov Avinu was M'kayem the words of Chazal who say: ָל אֶ חָ ד וְׁאֶ חָ ד חַ יָב לוֹמַ ר בִ שְׁ בִ ילִ י נִ בְׁ רָ א הָ עוֹלָ םכ Every person is obligated to say: “The entire universe was created just for me!”

Just as the stones were in awe of Yaakov Avinu and they appreciated his greatness, so was he: מְׁ רוֹמֵ ם uplifted them, when he poured oil on top of the stone. Oil symbolizes Malchus (Moshiach “the anointed of” Hashem) and being exalted. In his eyes, there was no such thing as a “lowly” creation, since the entire world is a holy product of Hashem. And we know that he went out of his way for: פַ כִ ים קְׁ טַ נִ ים petty containers.

By a true Tzaddik, everything is important and precious. He sees each thing as a part of Hashem’s glorious world, with all its awe-inspiring details and variations; the trees, the mountains, the oceans, the animals, the birds, the fish... And, of course, his precious time, and every tiny action that he does. Last but not least, his very self, since he is the most indescribable creature; a Tzelem Elokim and a: חֵ לֶ ק אֱ לוֹקַ Yaakov was able to take a stone and make it stand upright, symbolizing making greatness out of a zero.
