Matches: After going through a week of Chanukah and meriting to light menorah for eight days, it’s time to stop and appreciate how we are able to light a fire with the strike of a match. In olden times, people would need to rub special fire stones together in order to make a fire, however, now we are able to simply strike a match and make a fire. Besides for lighting menorah, matches are useful for lighting Shabbos candles, havdolah candles, cooking, to help light cigarettes for those who smoke (although I am not endorsing this bad habit) and for so many things. Next time your strike a match, stop and think for a second, how amazing it is that Hashem granted someone with the wisdom and knowledge to come up with such a thing.
