Furthermore, what is implied by this teaching is that we shouldn’t make a big deal about the way our bodies feel in regards to tefillah. Nowadays, there are so many illnesses and weaknesses that many of us suffer from. Certainly, we have to take care of bodies and do what we can to be healthy. However, we shouldn’t pay too much attention to the way that we feel. Instead, we should strengthen ourselves to overcome our issues and daven with enthusiasm and concentration.
Very often, it seems as if we simply don’t have the power to put any energy into tefillah. So, we just daven really quickly to get it over with. But the truth is that if we awaken ourselves to pray out loud with a little more chiyus, we rejuvenate the body and soul, and we find new spiritual and physical strength. Therefore, we shouldn’t get so involved in our senses and feelings. Rather, we should push ourselves to overcome these obstacles and attach ourselves to the kedushah of the words of tefillah.
