Teshuva is a Segulah for Parnassah

The Way of Emunah | December 31, 2025

The Medrash (Bereishis Rabbah 21:10) says that the word “v’attah” (and now) connotes teshuva.

We see from the Zohar Hakadosh (Naso 122A) that everything depends on teshuva. If one does not have sufficient livelihood, he should do teshuva and Hashem will provide for him.

Sefer Divrei Yisroel says that this concept is hinted to in this verse. If “there is no pasture for the sheep because the famine is severe” – meaning that there is a lack of parnassah. “V’attah” – the solution is to do teshuva. Once one does this, he will able to “dwell securely in the land” because Hashem will provide for him.

We have come to live in the land, for your servants’ flocks have no pasture, for the famine is severe... And now, please let your servants dwell in the land of Goshen. (47:4)
