5720-1960, the Rebbe thanked Moshe Shoob for rescuing a copy of the Zohar that contained handwritten commentary by the Rebbe’s father. While exiled in Kazakhstan, the Rebbe’s father had no paper and would write his Torah ideas in the margins of his books. “Saving words of Torah is a great deed,” the Rebbe wrote, “and to me, this is particularly personal, especially when I recall how much effort and energy my father expended” on writing his Torah teachings. Eventually, these works were published.
