Many of our enemies have come out against us but, until quite recently, there was still broad support from many western nations including America, the UK, France and others, who gave their backing to the war effort and sent weapons. However as time goes by, we are starting to find ourselves standing alone once more as, one by one, other nations are shamefully beginning to drop their support. This teaches us that we must only depend upon Avinu she’baShamayim.
Just as our great Rosh Yeshiva embraced 60 difficult and painful years of waiting, and recognized them as a period of growing closer to Hashem and being dependent only on Him, we too must embrace these special times and the feelings of ein od milvado that they engender.
As we approach the Yemey haPurim let us take these lessons to heart. In those times what was needed to bring the yeshua and rebuild the Beis Hamikdash, was the feeling that only Hashem could save us. The same is true today. With that in mind let us turn to Hashem in tefila and with that be zocheh to geula v’yisheua, omein kein yehi ratzon.
