Turtle dove
The turtle dove is mentioned in Leviticus 1:14 alongside a young common dove as one of two birds that may be presented as burnt offerings in the Temple.
The turtle dove is a kosher member of the pigeon family.
Diet: Herbivorous
Habitat: Africa and Europe
Voice: Rippling purr.
