Before Pesach we have the custom of giving tzedaka to the poor in order that they also would be able to happily celebrate Pesach.

As mentioned above, we learn from the 3 sifrei Torah to act in a manner different than what we are used to – above our natures – in a miraculous way, including how we give tzedaka.

The Rebbe Melech Hamoshiach Shlita says:

"...Even after being occupied with giving to the needy for the holiday, each and every one of us has to think for a moment and make an accurate account if what we gave others for the holiday ..."

"...All the more so from the first day of Nisan. Then starts the time when our service to Hashem rises to a higher level, a level of miracles. Then starts a time when we should give more than what we're use to giving for the holiday, more than maser and more than chomesh, even unlimited amounts to those in need..."
