5735–1975, after noticing a group of public school students — members of the weekly “Released Time” program for Jewish studies who were touring Crown Heights and the local matzah bakery — the Rebbe sent a message requesting that the children be invited to the door of his office. He then personally handed each child two dimes to be donated to charity, wishing them a “kosher and joyous Passover.”
