This is also why the Torah begins the portion of offerings with the offerings that are (-Rashi, Leviticus 1:2), “Scripture is speaking here of free — will offerings,” and then it goes on to the obligatory offerings. Because the offerings concept of a Jew becoming entirely near to G-d, expresses itself more in the offerings that the Jew brings from the voluntary offering of his heart.
