When the Jewish people finished making the Mishkan they were not able to erect it, and they brought it to Moshe Rabbeinu, he blessed them that the Shechinah dwell in our handiwork: May the pleasantness of Hashem be upon us; establish for us the work of our hands (Tehillim 90:17. Tanchuma and Rashi Pekudei 39:33-43).
Even after the Jewish people completed their part of constructing the components of the Mishkan, it was still necessary to bring it all to Moshe, and with his blessing (and participation) he erected the Mishkan.
Therein is a lesson for all of us: When a person is doing his avodah which was placed upon him, and he fulfills his avodah to completion – he must “bring” his “work” to Moshe Rabbeinu – the “extension of Moshe in every generation,” until and including the Rebbe Nassi doreinu – because only the Rebbe has the ability erect the Mishkan – the Divine service of the Jewish people, for he is the one who “stands between Hashem and you” [the Jewish people] (Va’eschanan 5:5) – he is the intermediary who connects the Jewish people to their Father in heaven.
In simple words: Every single Jew, regardless of his personal qualities and achievements, has to be connected and bonded to the “extension of Moshe” – the Rebbe, for it is through him that one can be connected to Hashem, as it’s written in Mechilta (on the possuk (Beshalach 14:31): “And they believed in Hashem and in Moshe His servant”) that “whoever believes in Moshe His servant, it’s as if he believes in Hashem.”
Moreover, all things of every Jew is dependent on the Nassi; and this too is not based only in Kabbalah and Chassidus, but it’s explicit also in the gemara: The gemara (Bava Basra 116a) states: “whoever has a sick person in his house, should go to a Sage and he will pray for mercy on his behalf.”
If one is “sick” (i.e. deficient physically, or spiritually in his Divine service to Hashem), it’s not enough that he himself (or his family member) will pray for mercy to remedy his material or spiritual affliction, but he is in need of the prayer and intervention of a Sage who will bring about the healing.
However it is necessary to do all one can on his own, and then to properly “bring” all your avodah to Moshe
– If one is still lacking in his “Mishkan work” - akin to what the Previous Rebbe said, that there are “tzores Chasidim” who don’t “come” to the Rebbe when things are good by them, when they are assigned a mission in hafotzas hamayonos they decline and withhold – but only in a time of need, in a time of a “tzoro”, Heaven save us, they come with a demand etc. that they need a “miracle” – in such a situation they are not appropriate “vessels” for the participation of “Moshe” and his benedictions.
But when the Jewish people do their avoda properly, according to their ability, and they come to Moshe in a proper way - with emunah (faith) in him, as the above mentioned explanation from our Sages (Mechilta) on “And they believed in Hashem and in Moshe His servant”, then Moshe participates with each and every single Jew, and helps every individual in his avoda, and brings every Jew to his true perfection.
