A Letter from the Past and the Power of Parental Love

Cyber Farbrengens | December 31, 2025

The door opens and the person from the previous Yechidus comes out and Feivel walks into the Rebbe's room. Rabbi Groner is shocked by Feivel's Chutzpah and follows Feivel in and wants to Shlep him out. The Rebbe looks up and tells Feivel to sit down. He did not have a Tzetel or anything specific to ask so he was kind of sitting there and the Rebbe was sitting there both silent. Then the Rebbe goes over to a drawer and is looking for something. The Rebbe returns to his desk with a letter. The Rebbe begins to read this letter, which is from Feivel's mother 25 years before. In the letter she writes that she realizes that she is going to pass away but "I am not concerned about myself. Rebbe, I am asking you to arouse Rachamim Rabim, extraordinary mercy from Hashem, on behalf of my children." She goes on with a passionate plea that G-d should protect and bless her Kinderlach.

Feivel is just in shock and overwhelmed. He was just a child when his mother passed away and did not have any letter of this kind in his possession. He asked the Rebbe if he can have the letter, a letter from his Mother pleading for her children! The Rebbe said I read this letter every year before I go out to Kol Nidrei!

Feivel was blown away by the Ruach Hakodesh. I think the other amazing aspect, likely more relevant to our Kol Nidrei crowd. The Rebbe is going out to KN, the holiest moment of the year. He is going to bless his children the Bocherim, and to pray for all of the Jewish people. At this moment he arouses the fatherly or parental love from Hashem (Im Kevanim..), by reading a letter where the absolute and selfless love from a mother for her children is expressed.

I thank each of you very much for sharing and contributing zechus horabim toluy bochem (I’m assuming that it was OK that I publicized them, that was, presumably, understood when they were sent to me). Please keep them coming!

L’chaim! May this Yud Gimmel Kislev be nizkorim venaasim, a day of Didan Notzach, in a visible tangible way, in every single area, b’Geulah hoAmitis veHashleimah through Moshiach Tzidkeinu TUMYM!!!
