Rav Yisrael Ephraim Fischel Sofer Av Beis Din of Nanash

Born around May 1822, to Rav Tzvi Hirsh Sofer of Sarospatak a descendant of descendant of Rav Shaul Wohl Katzenellenbogen. Rav Yisroel Efraim Fischel Sofer was one of the last talmidim of the Chasam Sofer and a chassid of the Yetev Lev. He served as AvBeisDin of Nanash (Hajdunanas) for fifty years, he was laid to rest there after his passing on 15 Kislevט״ו כסלו תרנ״ט 5659 . He authored the sefer Afsei Eretz. His son, Rabbi Shalom Sofer (1855–1929) was the Chief Rabbi in Berezne, Ukraine. His son-in- law, Rabbi Ben-Zion Halpert (died 1918) succeeded him as Chief Rabbi in Hajdúnánás.
