A miraculous act that happened to the Chafetz Chaim zt"l and was recorded by an eyewitness, Rabbi Zalman Sorotzkin zt"l of Lutsk.

A young man from a decent family in the city where I served as a rabbi and Av Beit Din wanted to immigrate to the Holy Land, and for this purpose he decided to study the profession of driving; that was about forty-five years ago, and my city did not have a motor vehicle at the time. After he learned this profession, the young man bought him a taxi (but in the meantime he did not get the certificate, the license, for aliyah), and began to operate the profession in our city. We were to be transporting passengers to and from the train. Slowly, he failed to desecrate Shabbat, i.e., he replaced the order mentioned with songs: "He is late to come to Shabbat and hastens to leave"; He would be late on Friday evening with the rides and transporting passengers until dark on Shabbat nights, and on the other hand, he would hurry to start gathering passengers on Shabbat, before the big day and the time had not yet arrived for "three meals". I sent for him and he promised to stop it, but he didn't keep his promise. I have done so several times to no avail. His father, who was a respectable landlord, was partially paralyzed and spent a long time in various hospitals in Warsaw and Vilna; There was a danger to talk to him about it and cause him anguish during his serious illness, lest we call it a disaster – and the breach of Shabbat desecration by his son was about to expand in my city, God forbid, and sweep away more fence breakers, who would learn from him.

It came to pass that day a large gathering of Lithuanian rabbis was held in Vilna, attended by about 300 rabbis, heads of yeshivot and educators. The conference was held under the chairmanship of the Tzadik Gaon "Chafetz Chaim" and the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Ozer zt"l, with on the agenda: matters of education in general and matters of the "Committee of Yeshivot" in particular. After many meetings over several days, we dispersed each to his city. The train, in which the Chafetz Chaim and the rabbis of the area traveled, and I were among them, From seven o'clock in the morning until the train left at 8 o'clock, the car, which they entered, was immediately filled to the brim, who had gathered to see and hear the Chafetz Chaim and to be with him. The Chafetz Chaim began to make preparations for the morning prayers. But I (since I had prayed at the hotel early, not yet getting into the car), left the car and went to see someone outside, in the plaza in front of the station. Suddenly I met the sick father of that y oung man, the ritual owner, who desecrates the Sabbath. The sick man walked, leaning on his cane and a bandage on his face, and approaching the train. I demanded his well-being and asked him, had the doctors already allowed him to leave the hospitals and go home? And the man answered me: I am not going home, but to Radin, to the Chafetz Chaim.

And he began to tell me his story, the act of the dream he had that night, and behold, his grandmother, who had passed away a few years ago, stood before him and whispered advice to him: ..."But in vain are you looking for a cure for your plague with the doctors, you have a lot to sleep in hospitals, go to the Chafetz Chaim and you will receive a blessing from him and you will be cured of your illness!" And he woke up from his sleep and behold, a dream struck him, and he decided at once to leave the hospital and go to the Chafetz Chaim, in order to be blessed by the blessings of his mouth. For this purpose, he now came to the train...

I was astonished to hear this dream and said to him: You don't even need to go to Radin, because the Chafetz Chaim is now traveling on this train and is in this car that is standing before us... The man was very moved, because he saw it as a sign from heaven, to confirm the grandmother's words. He hurried to the car, where the Chafetz Chaim was sitting. We found him standing in his pure and clear
