Absence Before Creation and the Role of Bittul

This will be better understood through the prism of that which is explained in the Maamor with the ‘Dibur Hamaschil’ וְכָל־הָעָם רֹאִים of the year 5675 (1915 - as part of the Hemshech Eyin Beis 5672) that before every ‘bringing into existence’ and before ‘any aspect of creation’ there first needs to be an ‘absence’, just as it is with the ‘Tzimtzum’ that the contraction needs to come first before the revelation.

This also explains the trepidation that came about as a result of the voices and the lightning that was going on at ‘Matan Torah’ (Which is the aspect of that which the Possuk says: “The people saw and trembled” which is this aspect of trepidation).

This is the ‘absence’ that comes before the ‘creation’, in order for there to be a state of ‘Bittul’ so as to be able to receive this Supernal Divine Revelation of Hashem’s ‘Atzmus’ with ‘Matan Torah’.

That this ‘absence’ is a preparation and receptacle to the Hamshocho of Hashem’s ‘Atzmus’ which is the true ‘existence’.

And he continues in the ‘Hemshech’ of 5672, that this concept is also connected with this final ‘Golus’ and more specifically the ‘Ikvasa Dimeshicha’. Just like at ‘Yetzias Mitzrayim’ and ‘Matan Torah’ that as a preparation for the revelation of ‘Matan Torah’ there first needed to be the preparation of concealment and of obscurity, of the Egyptian exile. Which is the ‘Absence’ which precedes the ‘existence’.
