This is not meant to rule practical halachah; rather it’s to show the sweetness of learning.
Based on Rav Yitzchok Silberstein’s seforim
Who To Ask?
Of course to Rav Yitzchok Silberstein shlita.
Who makes Torah learning so sweet & geshmak…
Avrumy and Zanvil were neighbors for 20 years. But sadly, they were always fighting.
If Avrumy's garbage can touched Zanvil's driveway! It was the end of the world.
So, when Avrumy decided to extend his house, Zanvil said, "You have no right, especially since I am not interested in all the construction noise from your house."
Avrumy laughed, "Construction noise? Relax, I will only do work when you are not home, and you're at work. What's the real reason?"
Zanvil said, "Your wall will stick out, and you will block my view. I'll lose half an hour of sunlight every afternoon."
You are kidding me. Avrumy thought.
Avrumy ignored him and went to a gemach (a lending organization) run by Reb Chaim Her to borrow $30,000 for his construction.
Reb Chaim Her checked his books. "We don't have it now. I'll call you when we do."
The next morning, Reb Chaim Her’s phone rings.
"Hello, this is Zanvil. I would like to put in $30,000 to your gemach." Reb Chaim Her almost dropped the phone. He knew these two. Everyone knew these two. The entire neighborhood knew about the half-hour of sun.
Was he allowed to give Zanvil's money to Avrumy? If Zanvil knew who this money was going to, maybe he would not lend it to the gemach?
Stop The Fighting!
The Ohr Hachaim Hakadosh says that if a person has more money than he needs for himself, he should know it is not meant for himself, rather it's meant to help a poor person. It was given to you to hold, and you have the zechus to help someone who needs it. It's not yours to keep. It belongs to a Yid who needs a loan, and you should lend the money.
So if Avrumy is building according to halachah, and has a right to make an extension, and isn’t really damaging anyone, Zanvil is obligated to lend money to someone who needs it, even if he's not happy with how Avrumy uses it.
So Reb Chaim can give the money to Avrumy.
It seems as if Hashem arranged for Avrumy to go to the gemach at the same time Zanvil decided to donate. This is called hashgach pratis, all arranged by Hashem.
