The Fifth Commandment Honor Your Father and Mother

We are commanded to honor our parents. Since HaShem is a partner with a child's parents in bringing him or her into the world, honoring parents is like honoring HaShem. A child who treats his or her parents with kindness and respect will be rewarded with long life.
