There was a group of Russian children (olim chadoshim), that their teacher or madrich arranged that they should all write to the Rebbe. They all wrote letters, with their names and mother's names, and the whole bundle was given in to the Rebbe.
The names were all "noach mit zibben greizen", it was impossible to know what they were meant to say. When the Rebbe saw them, he commented (to a mazkir? Or to an eltere chosid?): "Ich darf nutzen mein ruach hakodesh far azeleche zachen?!"
There was a chosid in Toronto, from the early Lubavitcher chassidim in Toronto, named Zalman Dutchman. He was a son of the famous chosid Reb Mordechai yoel Duchman. When he came to Toronto, his father (R’ Mordechai Yoel) wrote him a letter as follows:
'מה מצעדי גבר כוננו ” Du bizt ongekummen tzu an ort fun misnagdim. [Reb Mendel explained that in Toronto then there were no misnagdim, mainly poylishe. But "misnagdim" was a general label for anyone who wasn't a Chabad chosid]. (And he continued:) מתנגדים אוהבי אכילה הם So you should make sure to make a kiddush after davening, so that you should be able to teach them a vort chassidus!”
This Zalman Duchman was an uncle to the Zalman Duchman who lived in NY (the father of yisroel Duchman). Once he met another chosid from NY, and he was asking about his nephew, about his chassidishkeit etc. So, the chosid told him that Zalman Duchman (from NY) still holds on to his chassidishkeit, he still davens ba'arichus, and from time to time he cries by davening. So Reb Zalman (from Toronto) retorted: " א וודאי וויינט ,ער ער האט נישט וואס צו ,טראכטען וויינט ער ...."ה ואי" עוד חזון מועד ל
