Provide Yom Tov Needs

Before each festival, we are obligated to provide the needy with their festival requirements. However, this obligation assumes additional prominence before the festival of Shavuos. Our Sages state, “All agree that on Shavuos we are required to enjoy the festival physically as well as spiritual service,” and “we gladden ourselves on the festival with a feast.” Moreover, providing the needy with their requirements enhances their ability to receive the Torah, as our Sages state, “The Torah was only given to those who ate the manna,” and were therefore freed from the concerns of making a livelihood.
