Beef Up Our Boys

Living Jewish | June 27, 2025

Since October 2023, a group from Bet Shemesh has been distributing top-quality kosher beef jerky to soldiers in Israel, and now Lebanon.

Avraham Chaim Rutenberg, a member of Bet Menachem Chabad in Bet Shemesh, prayed for a shlichut that would truly make a difference. After delivering a few packages of beef jerky in mid-October, he realized he had found his shlichut. Units in the north and south said this was the most important donation they could receive, requesting as many as they could get.

Beef Up Our Boys, founded by Rutenberg, provides combat rations and chizuk, nourishing over 65,000 soldiers who often depend on dry army rations due to a lack of refrigeration and the nature of their missions.

Many soldiers undertake extreme and exhausting missions that require maximum nutrition. Each beautifully decorated package includes beef jerky or biltong, a shehakol blessing sticker thanking Hashem, and a Beef Up Our Boys chizuk sticker. Packages are delivered free. Parents and units frequently travel hours for these provisions, and when asked how to compensate, they are answered, “we owe you everything,” as it is given with love to those protecting Am Yisrael.

One Yamam soldier shared that the beef jerky was great and provided him and his comrades with the strength they needed. Another reserve soldier in Gaza and father of six, explained that while the beef was there to give him physical strength, the decorated bag and knowing the global Jewish community was with him, gave him the courage he needed, stating, "this kind of love is why I am fighting".

Powered by Divine providence, global supporters, and thousands of volunteers, every act of kindness contributes to bringing Moshiach. Join this global mitzvah or request for a unit. Visit BeefUpOurBoys.com.
